Kenyans living in the southern region of the United States of America have been celebrating their African roots in style. They turned up in large numbers to participate in a cultural event showcasing the various facets of their traditions. And as NTV's BMJ Muriithi reports, the event, held in Atlanta, Georgia, was such a crowd puller that left many in attendance yearning for similar events to be organized regularly.

  • @KihongeHarry right on! then we got sonko's parliament attire "representing the youth"

  • Does the christian song go with the culture?- i would have thought all kenyan while it lasted.?--great job anyway

  • wow summer is here our own Afro-Pfingsten is coming up from 8 to 13 june in Winterthur Zurich my headscarf will be a kenyan flag

  • pity they did not advertise much.

  • uchenzi mtupu, do u guys dress like this in kenya??? bure kabisa,

  • REALLY? How many of us wear the traditional Gikuyu garments in Kenya? How many of us sport the traditional Maasai attire? Or the Luhya dance skirts? Then we are the same people who will accuse our foreign friends of "ignorance" when we are perpetuating archaic perceptions ourselves. Let's get real--that's how our grandparents lived. Furthermore, while particular aspects of these practices remain, the above reporting misleads the viewer into thinking that this is contemporary Kenyan culture.

  • Good job Kenyans...

...funny how when we are away we relate to Maasai culture as our ID, lakini when we are home we give it the shaft
