Jesu Joy on the new Gold Tone CEB-5 Cello Banjo.

This video was done under more controlled conditions than my recording in January at NAMM, and in particular, on my own limited edition gold plated CEB-5.

Many, many thanks to Wayne and Tommy at Gold Tone for making this wonderful instrument available for me to purchase!

  • That's a very nice rendition. One question, are you using the stock set of strings or is that the medium set?

  • Hi, thank you... The strings and complete setup on the CEB-5 at this time was stock, including the Renaissance head, stock bridge and the original nylon strings that came with the banjo. As it works out, nylon strings last only about a week with the amount of playing I do. My current setup differs with a Yellowstone head, a custom bone-capped Gold Tone bridge and flatwound steel strings. This setup produces more volume, more sustain and a drier tone, and the strings last a long, long time.

  • This is very nice. Most impressive is that you actually did it the way the song really goes. Anyway it sounds really nice on the bass banjo.
