Three MOTs and 4 MOCs are used to make these arcs. The third MOT is used for ballast and to keep the arcs stable. More info here: http://uzzors2k.4hv.org/index.php?page=resonantmots

  • can i put a MOT in resonance with 1nf caps??

  • @bucketheadisamaster Nope. You'll need something in the range of 1µF.

  • Hi Uzzors2k!!! Nice arcs!!!

    How hot is the arc?

What happen if I touch it (very fast)?

  • @adriaticsea123 Hi adriaticsea123. I'd guess the arc is about as hot as what you'd get from an arc welder. So from 3000 degrees Celsius and up. If you touch the arc you'll die, or survive and lose your finger/hand.

  • Can you use only 2 MOTs (one for ballast and one for high voltage)?

  • @GrandpaTD It should work but I don't think the arcs will be too impressive. You'll need more caps than with two HV MOTs.
