We had to give Hanes his name because he arrived at the shelter in a tee-shirt! The mystery will never be solved, because his owners apparently never looked for him.
This gorgeous pup is almost an adult, but Hanes is still a VERY silly puppy in most ways. Hanes thinks the world is his playpen and everything is a toy! Hanes loves to play with other dogs too. After all, aren't they the best toy? Hanes went to his first show recently, and every time his handler got up, he climbed into her seat -- and GRINNED! In short, Hanes is a clown and proud of it!
Ask if Hanes is going to an upcoming adoption show, and if you attend, be sure to bring your sense of humor. You'll get your fill of chuckles!
UPDATE: At his first show, one of our volunteers noticed that Hanes had an odd gait. We took Hanes to our vet, who referred him to a orthopedic specialist. Hanes not only had an old fracture in one of his legs, but the hip was out of the socket! The specialist recommended a triple pelvic osteotomy, which was done on January 9. The operation was a success, but Hanes will be out of commission for a while. Thanks to DAWG's generous donors, who made it possible for Hanes to receive this operation. And special thanks to Dr. Prostredny, surgical specialist, for providing his services at a discount!
