It reached #34 on the Easy-Listening chart. It was the Bside to Big Boss Man. It is available on From Nashville to Memphis: The Essential 60s Masters, The 50 Greatest Love Songs, and the FTD Clambake soundtrack.

You give your hand to me
and then you say hello
And I can hardly speak,
my heart is beating so
And anyone could tell,
you think you know me well
But you don't know me

No you don't know the one
who dreams of you at night
And longs to kiss your lips
and longs to hold you tight
To you I'm just a friend,
and that's all I've ever been
No, you don't know me

For I never knew the art of making love
Though my heart aches with love for you
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by
The chance that you might love me too

You give your hand to me
and then you say good-bye
I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy
To never, never know the one who loves you so
No, you don't know me

  • There are legends and then there is Elvis! I am a fan of a lot of the 'Legends' in the world of music but to me Elvis is just in a class of his own. His spirit is as strong to day as it was all those years ago because so many people were captivated by his gift and it will go on through generations.

  • I love to hear all of the wonderful versions of this song.

  • Love it Jackie !

  • thanks for sharing this beautiful ELVIS music with everyone!

  • Why cant I met a man like Elvis? A gentleman, talented and oh so beautiful... *sigh*

  • It wasn't the 50's that Elvis made his fame. Jailhouse Rock wasn't the song that took him to stardom. It was song like this one.

  • Beautiful song, love the arrangement with the piano, and of course Elvis singing, wonderful, happy birthday Elvis, hard to believe you would have been 77 today.

  • Recently watched a Jodie Foster film (The Brave One) a virtual rip off of "Death Wish", this was playing in the background, I didn;t know this was from " Clambake", I have seen that Elvis film but don;t remember him singing this? A great version though,!!

  • Used this as a song to an ex when we split up!! She was a cliff fan...ah well lol

  • @jackthehatuk

    All the legends envy Elvis.
