This video shows my success (minus the spillage!) of refilling a samsung toner cartridge for the samsung clp-300 colour laser printer. Hope this video helps a few people get the job done quickly...and without the mess I managed to make! Good luck.

  • you need the chip to tell the printer you have refilled it... otherwise when it 'thinks' its empty...it will make you change the cartridge (which changes the chip) so it knows it can reset its levels. changing the chip fools it into thinking you have added a brand new cartridge.

  • What i can see is that refilling an inkjet is simpler and less hazardous :P.

  • lol, would seem so!

  • Where did you get that refill kit?

  • @IRONMAIDENFAN2006 The chip stores information about the status of the toner and tells the printer how much toner is remaining..if you don't change the chip and the toner cartridge was empty, the printer will think the re-filled toner cartridge is empty also. The newly fitted chip, it tells the printer the cartridge is full. I'm wondering if perhaps it might be possible to reset the chips on the toner without removing them, using some USB gadget...

  • I notice this video is quite old now and was probably made when the printer was fairly new still. You can get re-manufactured/compatible cartridges now for this printer VERY cheaply online (as low as £7 each in UK) making it probably the most economical colour laser printer available..assuming you can get hold of one, they're becoming somewhat scarce now..I have just managed to buy one this week! I noticed that later Samsung models in the 300 series have different toners and are harder to refill

  • @fellowsd100 Toner itself is not that harmful, but obviously you don't want to go inhaling it, probably a good idea to wear a dust mask and a pair of gloves when refilling... ironically the fumes from a laser printer in operation are far more dangerous than the actual toner due to sub-micron airborne particles.

  • NO NO NO you now probably have a 60% chance of getting lung cancer see a doctor immediatly if you have done this

  • I wanted to try the same thing at home, but forgot to order the new chip. However, I just saw that instead of the chip, there is just a square hole in my toner. Does it mean that since I dont have an old chip I dont need a new one? Could it be that the printer and everything works without it? Its weird.

  • The cartridges look like the fuse-plug found on the resident evil 2 where claire needs to put em on the other effin' side of the platform.

  • not from my experience. Why is this hazardous? Do you even know what is in InkJet INk? There are some pretty heavy metals that can be absorbed in BOTH. Try not to be so defacto, when you have only viewed a video ertreri. This technique is so cost effective, it makes chickens lay two eggs.

  • do you have to use the chip? could i just add toner?
