LeSEA Broadcasting, Inc. received authorization from the FCC to transition to digital prior to the February and June analog shutoff dates. At midnight on January 15th., 2009 KWHD-TV53 in Denver Colorado ceased broadcasting in analog.
Ron Vincent, Cheif Engineer of KWHD gave the former KWHD Assistant Chief Engineer, Duane Evarts, the honor of turning off the Harris transmitter for the last time. After several minutes to allow the system to cool down Ron threw the massive breakers for the pumps and power supplies. It was the end of an era. KWHD now broadcasts exclusively in the digital format using a Thales Paragon transmitter on channel 46.
And TV reception has sucked ever since... thanks to some more stupid government mandates.
