With the fires in Pullman, one can't help but think about how safe their homes are. Most people have smoke detectors, but do they know what type of smoke detector they have? There are ionization detectors, which detect heat, and photoelectric detectors, which detect smoldering fires. Tests were done to see which detectors worked best is specific situations. KXLY4's Mike Gonzalez reports.

  • Wait! this is not correct. Ionization is not heat! just hotter flaming fires, and photoelectric are smoldering. A HEAT detector detects hear, an ionization only detects smoke. Fix that, its dangerous.
