  • The powdery results on Vallejo is because you added too much water and the paint has broken down. Try adding Liquitex Matte Medium instead of water and see if your results improve.

  • @psyberwolfe Oooh! Great Tip! Thanks. I will give that a go.

  • GW's washes pull paint/the wash back when it dries.. I saw someone using some sort of stuff to stop it from pulling and keeping that coverage.

All in all... Army Painter the way to go?

  • @EclipsePainting Interesting. I think that problem with the GW wash is magnified by the satin finish (smoother and easier to 'slide' on) and the large bend. Probably not a problem under most applications. Saying that, after trying them all, I think if you want the best look and one of the best values, Army Painter is the way to go. While you need the matte clear coat to finish the look, the finish is rock hard on your minis and going to protect them well. Glad you found the video helpful.

  • great review. Thanks for the info!

  • Thank you!

  • @Terranscapes yeah. Anywya good luck with your projects thanks for posting your review!

  • @Ydouneed2nomyname I've heard that Walnut is the best choice. When I grabbed the can I just looked at the label color and mahogany looked good at that point. ;)

  • @Terranscapes thanks! by the way, about washes, if you're looking for something close to Army Painter Quick-shade Strong Tone, instead of Minwax Poly-shade Bombay Mahoghony, the Antique Walnut is WAY closer to brown. Based on models I've seen, it's right in-between the Strong Tone and Soft Tone in terms of how dark it is.

  • @UselesswizarD Can you post a link to the recipe?
