@Sangheili67 I was talking about Spartan-IIs who got past the training stage; there were 75 trainees, but only about half of them survived the augmentation process (though Bungie has trouble deciding on the specific number).

@umbrellashotgunman Actually, there were around 70 Spartan-IIs. They were just all killed at around the same time.
And the Chief didn't just win against the ODSTs, he killed two of them and left the others hospitalized.

@FibrousLlama Remember, Brutes had only just rediscovered radio and rocketry when they joined the Covenant, and they're the only Covenant race that still uses solid metal projectiles. Also, I'll bet you that we'll still be using torches at least 100 years into the future; it's just that they'll be better than the ones we have now.
