It's a free country, and you can hate on Cal if you want, but baseball is a game of both numbers/stats and heart. Cal's numbers in both of these categories destroy all theories that he was not one of the greats. He is/was admired in every stadium he played in, even if they didn't like his contributing to beating the home team in his prime.
If there were any Cal's left in baseball, maybe it wouldn't have dropped from the American past time to number 3 at best.

what are you talking about Ripkin is the nice player in oriole history and every body know it.

@davidhaman1978 You are a moron. As a life-long O's fan.....you have no idea what you are saying. Ripken and ownership/organization at the time - they are the reason for the O's sucking.
-
Ripken is the reason that the O's have sucked for so long. There is no doubt about it. I hate that selfish bastard. He is the most overrated athlete of all time.
-
You spelled Ripken wrong.
lol I don't usually respond to morons and wetards but you losers take the cake! You know nothing about baseball. What's happened to it in the last 10 years? A bunch of well overpaid steroid monsters who sit out when they break a fingernail. Seriously, get a life!

Cal Ripken is a pathetic loser. He ruined the organization for decades. Please challenge me on this if you disagree......

@msm318 I don't disagree but would love to hear your theory. So how has Baltimore's only Hall of Fame type player for decades ruined the organization?

This video is claimed to have been made in late 1983. He's holding a 1984 Topps. You can buy them on Ebay for about $1.00 a piece. They have a book value of $6.00. It's still a strange video. Also, to the person who said that Ripken's rookie goes for Thousands now. None of his major league rookie cards hold that kind of price. His 1982 Topps rookie that is professionally graded as a Gem Mint 10 usually sells on Ebay for about $500. Some of Ripken's minor league cards can bring thousands.
