It doesn't take much to make someone happy... really.
You will love this heart-warming original song written and performed by my good friend in Japan.
After setting 2 world records in 2 months with my drawings in 2007 at 23, I decided to find out what makes children happy. In 2008, I was traveling around Southeast Asia on my tour supported by the Governments of ASEAN Member States, when I met these children, all very shy, playing on a street in Cambodia. They were curious about the pencil and paper I was holding in my hands. I stopped and thought I could draw a simple drawing together with them. I first drew a simple drawing of a home and the girl was surprised. Seeing her reaction, her friends gathered around, wanting to see more. So i drew a caricature of the little girl and the little boy pointed at the little girl and started giggling. The little girl then pointed at the little boy, wanting me to draw a picture of him too. I drew a caricature for the little boy and everyone started laughing.
Later, the little girl did something that I will remember for the rest of my life. I passed a crayon to her. With the crayon in her hands, she seemed lost and didn't know what to do with it. She was really nervous. Her friends were encouraging her to draw. I held her little hand and guided her to draw a stroke on the paper. After drawing the first stroke, she stopped. She stopped and stared at the stroke she drew, and didn't moved for a few seconds. I was looking at her. Suddenly, she smiled to herself and got really excited and started drawing a heart on my paper. She added in many colours into the heart, all the while, smiling to herself. Her friends got really excited too, and everyone started drawing and colouring all over the place. I realised that it was her very first time, holding a pencil and drawing her very first picture. All her anxiety, curiosity, excitement and happiness was in that simple drawing. When I had to leave to visit another school, the little boy and the little girl gave me a kiss on my cheeks. I was surprised. I don't know why. They were so shy before. Maybe they have realised that there are other people who care about them too. Thinking back, that was one of the most beautiful hearts I've seen. Today, this simple drawing is displayed in my bedroom, together with a few other children's drawings.
This happened because of a simple drawing, and it all started with my simple dream to make other people happy.
Always reminding myself... only two things will happen. You either inspire someone to do good, or he will inspire you on a reason not to.
