Block of dry ice placed in a pool fire. Flame is extinguished due to the CO2 sublimated from the block and the reduction in the pool temperature due to the cold temperature of the dry ice block.

  • Not a trivial result.

I'm imagining a jet of dry ice shavings, driven through a hose by compressed CO2, as a mechanism for extinguishing refinery fires.

  • @ROBwithaB A neat idea, similar to a normal CO2 extinguisher but the dry ice shaving would hang around longer which could be quite useful.

  • So why don't we use dry ice to destroy forest fires?

  • @kkpipbs putting regular ice in that tray would put out the fire too

  • @kleetus92 Oh... and you'd probably asphyxiate half the fire crew!

  • @kkpipbs You'd need a shitload of it.

  • well, that's one way to put out a fire...

  • IT ATE THE FIRE!!!!! WHAT IS THIS SORCERY????

  • WHY IS THIS NOT USED DURING WILDFIRES?!!

  • @kkpipbs

    What dry ice?

  • omg why do you try to reignite it when its obvious that CO2 is a extinguishable gas more fun to see how a ice cube made of water hit burning oil :D

  • uh-oh im in the weird part of youtube again

  • @Ycylyon LIKE A BAWS!
