that's simply not true. there are only two recessions of this magnitude in the postwar period, the 1980-82 recession and this one. we recovered MUCH more quickly in the 80s, growing at 4% in 1983. there's no excuse for why our recovery has been so terrible, the 80s recession was even worse with record high interest rates and inflation. the CBO has projected us to go into a recession next year if we continue the same course we've been on and don't fix the fiscal cliff. you're totally uninformed
