Policemans Ball - Kent July 2009

Roughly 70 Police Officers in 10 riot vans, one Police Jeep and 15 cars (1 audi RS chiefs car, 6 dog units, 8 squad cars) One officer wearing full riot gear. The Police were also filming the whole costly affair at the end of an intimidating 13 police long row.

This was on a quiet Sunday July morning in a beautiful area of the Kent countryside close to Canterbury. The policeman chatted to, said he had come from Tonbridge. You should wonder exactly how much of the available Kent Police force were here??!!

Quite an excessive amount of intimidation/force to have upon a group of no more than 60 people! (between the ages of 18-30 year olds) at least half of which were women and girls!

The people who have these woodland outdoor parties do so because they disslike the only Legal option available to them - the PUBS, CLUBS and BARS in citys and towns. We all know they're literally crawling in drunk, coked-up idiots who want to fight, causing irrational violent trouble, its Britians most embarrasing problem at the moment!! The party organisers prefer not to use these places as it is hard to maintain a 'friends and good people only' policy. Judging someone on their footware is just ancient and egotistical. They have to let ALL the piss-head public into their party too! Private venues are not an option as the price skyrockets out of the organisers reach (and many of the party friends reach too!) The soundsystems are poor quality and there are too many restrictions on volume, licensing times and venue booking times.

THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT OUT TO WRECK THE COUNTRYSIDE AND ANNOY LOCAL PEOPLE!! (why would they want to disturb good people?! Afer all, they are just good people themselves, who don't want to be disturbed by the carnage of our late night towns and streets of Britian!)

Parties are organised in sites of outstanding natural beauty when the weather is good. This is because everyone there has a deep appreciation for the beauty of the local countyside. They prefer this unlike like the crettins puking in the shop doorways. They feel this is a just unbeatable location to enjoy what stimulates and connects us all. The underground music.

The people who help organise these small parties are virtually always avid lovers of nature. They do all they can to keep the site tidy and in exactly the same condition as it was found in.
When the Police turn up if you are seen tidying up, you can sometimes be arrested as an organiser! This has been known on many occasions by people.

2 years ago they would send 2 or 3 police officers along to one of these parties. The Officers would determin any potential problems with the party (volume/number of people) and chat to the people there, and sometimes just stand about and LET IT CARRY ON. This is beacuse they were peaceful parties of caring, respecting, concious people!

What options do these people to have??!! How is it, that when the intentions of the organisers and party goers are pure, the Police have a problem with it
But most of all, WHY are the Police clearly spending STUPID amounts of public money tackling something that is more or less a small private party?

more than likely they were told that a vast vast number were there and a possible fight (fueled with alcohol) will start. 98% of what the police are told is different to what actually is happening but the police have to react to what they have been told

the police cannot operate on what they're ''told''. this would cost a stupid amount of money as most things they deal with are exagerated. They need intelligence. Have you ever seen this many police in a local town on partol at night? why? they have garanteed brutal fights and stabbings every night.. I am still looking for Justification..

The police have nothing better to do than crash this party!! I have been in this situation myself several times with friends, in a field early sunday morning. It takes the piss that they can't let us have freedom, dance, see friends and enjoy the countryside! No they want us to stay in some sweaty club, get pissed and end up fighting! Can't they see how beautiful it is to be with people in the middle of trees and grass and having a nice time with fresh air?
