@diannabowen to ensure no permanent damage will happen. Matt also had a few breathing problems and the surgery was to help him fully breath through his nose passages so he could clean sing for City of Evil. He wanted to sing he wanted to do a gritty singing style like Axl rose and you cannot sing good if you scream, you just don't have the compression ratio from your diaphragm to your throat, to clean sing in that kind of octave range,a trade for a trade no screaming better singing
-
@diannabowen much of one thing. Il post a link of Matts vocal trainer he sheds light on this myth that matt wrecked his chords and as for the different scream style matt changed scream styles from fry to a more subtle low compression growl which allows him to keep more compression to go from screaming to clean singer easier. I don't think you should post a comment about him frying his vocal chords until you know that he actually did. It was a simple surgery all musicians go through

@diannabowen Im not gonna waltz on anyones parade but Matt didn't wreck his vocal chords and just like every singer that has ever toured a long period of time he played out his voice and had to get minor surgery. All singers get surgery to make sure to keep there vocal chords in check. Its like most athletes go for physical check ups to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong, we all pull muscles time to time and its not usually because we did anything wrong no because we did to

I think its funny when you watch the interview with Johnny christ and the Rev that the funniest myth about the group is that their lead singer can't scream...andI agree, I would love for Matt to save his voice after surgery

@Palffy3314 They did a fake setlist. There was a decided setlist but they changed it up at the show I was at. It was cool though, MIA was great to see live, and Chapter Four.

OMG JUST SHUT UP ABOUT THE FUCKING SURGERY! JUST APPRECIATE THE MUSIC FOR FUCKS SAKES!!!!
@sxesamuel /watch?v=GIAmlP-4MBI
He did have surgery, but it was minor. His screaming in 2003-04 was messing up the blood vessel in his throat every show. So when he had it checked out, the doctor required him to have surgery or he would have lost his voice completely. Just because they said they didn't want to scream anymore doesn't rule out the fact that he actually had to have surgery. It's not the reason he quit screaming, but he still had it.
