I do think it would have been a totally different story if she had been able to say goodbye. I remember somwhere in the book Edward or Bella, was talking or thinking about how it would have been diferent if he hadn't comeback. One of them was saying or wondering if she would have ended up with Mike Newton, or Eric, or Jacob. I'm not sure if this happenned in newmoon, it might have been in Eclipse. Maybe not even in any of the books. It might just be my own mind running away with itself.[:
