Screech owls of Wye island, Md. While monitoring Wood Ducks in the mid-Atlantic area I came across a mother Screech Owl with eggs. I stopped by every several days and took pictures.

  • You did a fantastic job on this. I enjoyed it very much. I have burrowing owls in my backyard. I can't see underground of course, but maybe I can still try a documentary like this when next hatching comes up out of the burrow when they're around 2 weeks old. You've inspired me. Thanks!! I know I won't be able to do it this well though. GREAT JOB!

  • Thanx 4 the kudos--It was just luck. I monitor Wood Duck boxes and the mother chose one of my boxes. I will again this year monitoring the same group of boxes and HOPE the mother uses the same box again. Think positively -u already have the photo skills and some great footage, unusual footage. I believe U wil do a great job

  • thanx 4 the post. It was not so much patience as getting up very early to stop by the box which was a mile walk from closest parking. I miss the buddies, there was such changes each time I visited them---again, thanx..Dave

  • Why is the mother almost always looking up in these clips?

  • Thanks for the encouragement. Although the owls are out during daylight, I do need a camera that would work better at dusk when all the kids really come out to play and at a distance to not disturb them or change their behavior. I didn't know that wood ducks use boxes. We've been trying to find wood ducks for a long time and have had no luck even when we go where they've been seen. They are the most beautiful duck in the world. Any tips on viewing them?

  • Great job!! I could not move away

    Nicely done!
