Hi! Would you please tell me if it is possible to highlight text using Kindle? Is it possible both in its own format and in PDF as well?

Try emailing your Kindle a PDF with the word "convert" in the subject line. Amazon will convert it to a Kindle format and then you can even have it read the PDF to you and zoom the text, etc.

This works well with some PDFs but not really with all unfortunately.

i have, thing people dont realize is when you convert a pdf you lose the layout of the pdf. Example: if you have a 2 column page with a picture in the middle, when you convert to kindle format the first column is its own page, the picture another page and the 2nd column a 3rd page.

Thanks for reviewing the PDF functionality. It seems that when Amzaon say "native" support, they're incorrect since you can't use links or change the font. I'll be looking at other readers.

@mejdam So is there an e-reader out there that doesn't have these problems? I really want to be able to highlight (and bookmark) text in the PDF-papers I read. Do you have any suggestions?

You can zoom in, but it makes the whole thing bigger, not just the font, so you will likely have to scroll to read or rotate the screen. Even in Adobe's own PDF reader you can't adjust the font size, you can only zoom. PDF's aren't text documents. They are designed to retain the original formatting, and they act more like images than text.

So why if it's so easy to just transfer files to the kindle DX that right after I don't have them on my kindle but I plug it back in a drag and drop it; it asks if I want to replace existing file? seriously driving me crazy!

Thanx for the vid. It's obvious that the Kindle is completely useless for PDF files. The iPad is the definitely the way to go for PDF files. There's a number of programs that allow highlighting and note taking right on them. I recommend Readdledocs.

@mejdam Is there a converter if you don't want to send it by amazon? I don't want to pay the conversion fee on a large pdf. I purchased the Spycraft 2.0 RPG guide. I've loaded it onto the kindle in PDF, but might actually like something to break apart the columns, pictures, etc.

he not just needs to learn to use a camera... he also should think about what he want to say prior to stumble around, voice things under his breath wile trying to do something he never done before and a few other things that would make watching this review a much better experience...
