One correction... The reason for the 3 piece back isn't to use the scraps or lack of available sized wood. LOL
The reason is TONE. 3 piece backs bring out the deeper tones which some people may like, many companies offer this option on their models.

@johnhguitar first of all, this doesn't only concern you, so don't take it personally. Noticed I said "they". If you were to buy a guitar would you judged after its sound, versatility and playability, or its look and material?. Personally, I've found Takamine guitars the best. Nice playing by the way:)
