A look at some of the other boats that make the races when the jet boats aren't racing. These hydro racers run their own curcuit on numerous rivers around the pacific northwest. These boats sound like indy race cars with their high pitched sceaming engines.

  • @rxcalvosa Already a member!! :)

  • Are these Merc 44s on a F class boat ???( 13'6" long) or are they 55H / 40 cube D class motors on a F class boat ?? Looks like a bunch of guys with to much money to play with, as them Quicksilver lower units are going $1,300.00 each and 1 goot hit and there toast . Pretty stupid waist of equipment . Just remeber Mercury has not built these units since 1980 and there are no more ! So your fun is at a very expansive cost to other boat racers.

  • Hydro I know hardly anything about these guys other than their races are sometimes on the same weekends as ours. I do know they are called cal-ore hydros and are a part of the apba. They may be a special event class I don't know.

  • jet or prop?

  • Those are props.

  • these racers have a love for racing just anyone who likes to go fast on the edge out in the open water skimming over the water with only 2-3 inches of the back of the boat in the water jumping through white water with a top speed of 80+ no running in a circle BS. yes the lower unit coasts but what doesnt? there is the option of rebuilding ur lower unit or get connected. these racers run 2 bladded props with a pull start the moto-x of hydroplane

  • Great video and great subject, but why the music covering the sounds of stacks and excitement of the engines? They make their own best music.

  • check-out the 'cal-ore river racers' facebook page

  • HAHAHA these guys are hardcore adrenalin junkies madd props

  • awesome footage, they are so loud when they race by, they hurt your chest lol.

  • those things sound like pissed off bumble bees, though they look like loads of fun.

  • how fast do those boats get up too? whats the starting horsepower of the outboard before modifications are done to it?

  • WOW! How do i sign up for that!

  • Lose that crappy, unnecessary "music" and it would be a lot better.

    jeff

  • The class is called "Cal-Or River Racer" They only race at a few locations in the NorthWest.

The motors are similar to APBA D Modified motors based on 45 & 50 hp Mercs but with fewer modifications and the boats have to be a little bigger

The boats don't get as torn up in a crash as you would imagine ... almost always repairable.

  • what's the class for these boats ?

  • tahks wasnt sure

  • Pretty wild. They do sound like Indy's though. I bet they also disintegrate like one to if they get in a wreck.

  • yeah yeah,i think it was more like a question.but either way!you got my point yay!

  • No seats, no roll cage. Man it has to hurt if you lose it on the rocks!!!!

I wonder how many skegs and props get chopped up on a weekend .

Stick to deep water boys. Fomula 1 is much safer and if you go open cockpit at least a bucket seat is comfortable!

  • The best sounds in boat racing, A pack of D/E Mods, Great Video, Thanks

  • Great video! i love the LeMans start!

  • Hydro's are the bomb - I don't care what anyone says! Hands down the best racing on the river!!!

  • racing16 = best boat videos on youtube
