Army of None

This is a film short that two friends and I did for our Critical Thinking class. The objective was to take a television ad of a product (in our case, the "product" was the U.S. Army) and do a sort of "spoof" on it, showing the actualities, the realities behind the product.

The animation is done all with Legos, on a PowerBook G4 with iMovie and Graphic Converter to make the stills into movie format. We ran most of it at 6 fps, so it may look jerky in places.

how do you do stop motion?

You move the objects a little bit in each picture, and then splice them together to create the illusion of movement. So I'd take a picture, move each piece a little bit, then take another, and so forth. When run together, it makes it seem as though they are actually moving.

I don't necessarily agree with the message, but there's certainly a possibility of going into combat, and the realities behind the recruiter's spin on things are harsher than you'd think.

Said reality should stop people from wanting to defend their country. I think we just feel the need to shelter people from the truth. But I digress.
