Percutaneous tracheostomy is one of the most commonly performed bedside surgical procedures in critically sick patients. The indications of tracheostomy are: prolonged mechanical ventilation, isolation of airway, easier tracheo-bronchial toileting and oro-dental hygiene. A number of percutaneous tracheostomy kits are available. The latest addition is the 'Ambesh T-Trach Percutaneous Tracheostomy Kit' which is quite simple to use and economical. The contraindications are: age less than 16 yrs, distorted anatomy of neck, incorrectable coagulopathies, local sepsis and undefined anatomical landmarks.

  • Hi, what is the line in the middle. is it the upper border of crichoid? or is it lower border? thanks?

  • @hypnonebula The top mark (on right) is the thyroid cartilage and the lowest mark (V-shaped ) is the supra-sternal notch. Below the thyroid cartilage (prominence) the transverse line is the cricoid cartilage. A point marked between the cricoid cartilage and the suprasternal notch is the site selected for percutaneous tracheostomy that is between 2nd and 3rd tracheal rings. Hope, I have answered your queries. Thanks for your interest in this video and the kit.

  • Thank you for posting this . Now I can start using this if ever I decide to knock someones trachea. Just kidding. LOL

  • @lty2k84 Thanks Ity2k84 for your comments and hope soon you will start using this kit (manufactured and distributed by Eastern Medikit Limited).

  • Tell me where this kit available.GOOD JOB.

  • Impressive kit and technique. Is this kit available in Europe?

  • Oh Yes, very good kit and technique. I think this kit was earlier available as "T-Dagger" and its name is changed now as "T-Trach". I have seen it being demonstrated by one of my colleagues in Bristol. It looked very simple to use. If I am right then there are few publications, as T-Dagger.

  • Excellent. I heard about this T-Trach percutaneous tracheostomy device a couple of years ago but could not find any details. I am really excited to see this. Can some body tell me what is the address of its manufacturer and how much does it cost in US$. I will surely use it. I m impressed.
