Making this recipe tomorrow!!!!! Love your 80's crockpot, I had the same one but finally worn it out! Bet it lasted 20 yrs! So don't get rid of it, the new ones now last about year before I have to replace them!

YES! I always put butter in my refried beans. Ha I thought I was just being another weird Californian...yay!! and yes it is absolutely wonderful. so one question...should I or shouldn't I soak?

@TheOddgothgirl Some say soaking beans makes for less gas. I have never had a gas problem when eating beans and I don't know whay so I never presoak unless I want them to cook faster the following day.
