Is there anybody going to listen to my story
All about the girl who came to stay?
She's the kind of girl you want so much
It makes you sorry
Still you don't regret a single day.
Ah girl! Ffff...Girl!
When I think of all the times I've tried SO HARD to leave her
She will turn to me and start to cry;
And she promises the earth to me
And I believe her
After all this time I don't know why.
Ah, girl! Ffff...Girl!
She's the kind of girl who puts you down
When friends are there, you feel a fool.
When you say she's looking good
She acts as if it's understood.
She's cool, ooh, ooh, ooh,
Girl! Ffff...Girl!
Was she told when she was young that pain
Would lead to pleasure?
Did she understand it when they said
That a man must break his back to earn
His day of leisure?
Will she still believe it when he's dead?
Ah girl!Ffff...Girl!

"Girl" is a Beatles song written by John Lennon, but as all releases written by either John Lennon or Paul McCartney, it is credited to Lennon/McCartney. (Although, McCartney claims this song was co-written; being the result of one of their writing sessions at John's house at Kenwood). The song was first released in 1965 on The Beatles' album Rubber Soul, and was the last complete song recorded for it.
The song's lyrics describe a girl the singer loves, but with misgivings: "She's the kind of girl who puts you down / When friends are there, you feel a fool." Backing the bridges is a refrain sung by Lennon while McCartney and George Harrison repeatedly sing a syllable for vocal percussion ("tit-tit-tit-tit") as a joke. The deep breaths in the chorus were rumoured to have symbolised taking a long inhalation (toke) off of a marijuana joint.
I'll listen to your story...I promise
