Even though I didn't vote for him, didn't want him to become president, and think he's doing a terrible job overall, I still was a bit excited when he won because of the historical significance.

Right, Obama is what is known as mulatto, a person with one black parent, and one white parent. Because his father was black, and his skin tone shows it, he is our first black president. He also has the typical African American hairstyle.
