In this charming interview, Iain Burnside talks about his life 'on the touchline of opera'. He is both a distinguished pianist who works with singers as well as an award-winning broadcaster on BBC Radio 3.
In his interview, Iain speaks about his dear friend Susan Chilcott, who died of cancer shortly after her 40th birthday. He speaks about her performance as Desdemona, so it seemed appropriate to use excerpts from a sublime recording published posthumously by Cypres records of Susan Chilcott performing Britten, Verdi, Strass and Boesmans in Brussels. The conductor is Antonio Pappano who said "Susan Chilcott was the embodiment of the deepest emotional expression through her voice and her unique stage presence".
Charming!!!
