@pulltabpirate i know you posted 3 months ago but you may like to know the answer,,in uk most land has been ploughed throughout history,so the coin never gets burried deep. i once found a viking buckle on the surface...i have seen maybe five ancient silver coins on surface before i swung detector head over them...i have been detecting 30 years,,so its not a common thing.

@cicodelico WTF...where did you find the coin.i live in sachsen/germany.but the oldest coin i have dug up for now is a 1923 200 Reichs-Mark coin.Gratz on your find.HH from Görlitz/Sachsen

NEVER clean a coin! Man...your coins are very very nice, but they have lost all the historical value like this...A real shame. NEVER CLEAN A COIN

@PonzioPilato87 yeah i hear what your saying,,and im very carefull on what i clean,,i only cleaned these cos i gave them to the local school for some history lessons ,and it was easy for them to ,, read the legends,,,i never sell any so ,,but display alot of coins so i like to see them clearly,,,but yes you are dead right ,about the cleaning,,,,many thanks for the comments,,have a great christmas

these are the best coins i found after a great deal of walking,,the three artifacts on the video are two strap ends , and a very nice buckle all saxon from about 700AD to 900 AD,,the very last hammered silver coin was struck in Ireland, and is edward the first,,it was struck in Ireland in about ,,1270,,to,,1290,,and is one of the finnest hammered pennies ive ever found,,,good luck on you next hunt thanks for watching
