  • Great song.Thx for posting.

  • I Wish I Were and I Been Moved are about his 'worst' selling songs. These songs were the bridge between his late 60's hits like Baby I Love You and So Good Together, and the monster hit, Rock Me Gently from 1975 I have a greatest hits LP, and I think it has both.

They are FABULOUS songs, both of them.

  • @pc88pc I am now 62 years old and this song tells the story of me and a girl that I new many, many years ago and I hope that she is doing OK !

    Thanks for the post.

  • @pc88pc

  • just a great song.. thanks for posting it.

  • Is there a more fantastic song passage where the lyrics blend with the emotional punch of the music, when he sings, from 2:17 onward, "I wish, I wish, I wish", and you're waiting for him to say "I were him", but he doesn't, because all he has left is wishing itself, and the orchestral sound takes off into overdrive, as if to simultaneously signal the ambition of his wishing and its magnificent impossibility.

It just give me the chills.

  • Thanks for posting. This month celebrates 40 years since this song charted. It got up to #62 and spent 6 weeks on the charts. I was a college DJ at the time and loved playing this record (in stereo). With it's slow, folksy start, to it's rocking ending, it was a great song to end a slow set and begin a more upbeat set. As I recall, it was only released as a single and then on the Dunhill Greatest Hits album, NOT on the EMI Greatest Hits album you find on Amazon. Great to hear it again.

  • I absolutely love this song-- I looked for it everywhere and still could not find it. until it occurred to me to at you tube God bless you tube

where can I buy it ?

    mr. d

  • Agrees, Kim's best by far

  • Bad grammar! It should be "I wish I were he."
