  • oh my god - your interpretation and application of the tecniques is a shame to tae kwon do.

i hope someone doesn't try to replicate these things. You should not be posting self defense videos with such limited experience - this causes social harm.

  • Lol, thanks :)

We're freestyling, not teaching. That's not the point of the videos. It's just myself and Ray running through stuff that we can think of, often literally on the spot. No pressure testing etc done on it. That's why it's all so sloppy.

  • Excellent, have you any clips of the pressure testing? What safety equipment do you wear etc?

  • Not yet :) That's something we're going to be do doing soon.

We do progressive resistance, finally working up to wear the person 'attacking' is wearing a helmet with faceguard (for eye strikes), TKD Chest protector, groin guard and MMA gloves. The 'defender' wears just the MMA gloves as it's hoped that they can regain the advantage asap. Thing is, it hurts :).

  • What happens if the opponent is struggling with you and not compliant like this partner? ;D

  • Hello

I don't like this technique and the applications that stem from it that much but we're practicing the techniques as part of an upcoming grading.

We view our applications as 'snapshots', we never practice a technique as a start and finish (although it might well be), but rather part of an incident, where at some point during that incident we're then able to apply the defence.

A lot of the stuff we do is pressure tested to the point of knockout.

  • @practicaltaekwondo practically nothing you show here would work under full contact conditions. Why are you wasting your time dreaming up horseshit like this.Just create full contact situations and see what works, refine it and test again, the scientific method, something martial arts dont ever do.Trying to fantasise about what worth patterns have is arse backwards, they have none, they never had.Ive done itf tkd from 1984 till 2000

  • TKD isnt suppost to work its just suppost to look cool duh why do u think they have a move caLLED 720 kick learn some shaolin kung fu and then ul be a bad ass

  • The hand that is not being used to strike is being used to pull the opponent towards you by his collar - this is why your left hand ends up on your right shoulder when you compete the strike. You pull him in as you strike perpendicular to the tug.

After the strike you then execute the punch to the opponent at 90 degrees.

------------------------------------------------- that said the 3 step combination is extreemely situation specific and probably won't ever be used in that sequence

  • This makes sense b/c the twin outer forearm block is just the combination of a midsection block and a high section block. Furthermore the inner knifehand strike cannot produce any power if you throw it at a 90 degree angle because there is no carry through. Therefore the inner knife hand strike is thrown at a 45 degree angle at the opponent that you blocked with the high section block piece of the outer forearm guarding block.

  • oh ok - sorry if i was so harsh.

Here is an interpretation of the Outer-Forearm guarding block - > inner knifehand strike -> backstane punch combination from the form WAn-yo:

    Situation:

WHile other scenarios are plausible - the one that seems to make the most sense is that you are being attacked by two opponents. ONe opponent is at 45 degrees and the other at 90 degrees to your left.
