@jrswordfish1 if you read "surely you're joking mr. feynman!", he explains that his attitudes against men in uniform (and by extension the government) came from his father. You should read the book, it's a great read.

i wonder if feynman as he grew older became wary and regret his involvement in the manhattan project and events of hiroshima-nagasaki. i sense passive-aggressive tone in all his comments related to govt and its scientific institutions like this video and one related to the project.

Well he certainly did find it and although some others already knew, he was the only only person with sufficient media presence, disregard for authority and lack of care for his own job to blow the whistle on what really happened.
