@TheBombson well i can say that they do invest a lot in that city (at the expense of other cities probably). the materials are bad b/c those people in charge most probably and i'm 99% sure keep substantial parts of the money for themselves. the river is concreted b/c the soil in the city is not very good and kinda swampy, so this must be just the way to keep the banks safe and stable.

I have apsolutely NOTHING against Kazahstan but this city is very ugly. First of all it is very tacky! The use of colors is extremley bad and the "modern" buildings clearly reveal that the architect has no idea what modern architecture is. Although I understan the country has no money for luxury,the materials used are bad and make everything look very cheap. HOWEVER,I apreciate the fact taht it's a planned city with parks,squares and that charming (but why concreted) river.
