It is amazing to know that in the 21st Century, a scene like this although very rare, still occurs! I was on Highway US 60 west of Magdalina, New Mexico, not far from the Arizona border when I encountered a cattle drive of about 80 head about ready to cross the road and head for open sagebrush plains to the North of me. I should have stopped to take pictures, but didn't want to be held up. It was perfect. Some 6-8 Cowboys were riding through the dust just like the days of old! That was 2005!

A "doh-gee" calf has no mother but is still on milk. :)
Goats and other cows are used to provide the milk. :)

As someone born the year of this show's debut and a fan of quality westerns, it's amazing I never really SAW this show. Love to hear the music & see the dogies, titles and images (especially the CBS network card & music following the end credits). As for the music itself, its enchanting qualities - to my mind and ears, at least - are due to the minor key, the rhythm, accentuated by the syncopated accordion and, of course Frankie Laine.
