finally completed, with live frogs added!!!!

Many people are asking me how the tank was built, what was the background made of, and what are the plants...

Well.. The plants are from Lowes, Home Depot, and an online plant distributer out of Massachusetts.
The background is made from REAL cork bark purchased form THATFISHPLACE.COM in Lancaster PA. it is held in place by aquarium grade silicone, and cut to fit around the REAL rock, that acts as a waterfall.

The substrate is Eco-earth on top of gravel, which sets on a PVC pipe and "eggcrate" shelf, to permit water flow.

There is about 10 gallons of water in the tank, and it is circulated by two pumps, one is an under water filter (which I would not recommend) accompanied by a Fluval 101 canister, with a ball check on the return to limit the flow of the waterfall.

Everything in the tank is living, and natural. nothing looks better than REAL plants in a natural setting vivarium.

  • is this just the standard 29? thats what it looks like.

  • @lizardlover1973 It's a 55 gallon tank. Thanks for watching....

  • Love the whole setup. I'm actually going to model my 24 gallon terrarium on yours, if you don't mind, of course ;)

Are poison dart frogs hard to take care of? I've done a lot of research on them and the general opinion seems to be that they're fairly easy to keep. The guys at the petshop advised against keeping them due to certain requirements, though, so I'm not sure who to listen to.

Either way, nice job on the vivarium.

  • @Freestuyl I would love to see another tank, that is modeled after mine....

    POST VIDS MAN!!!!! POST VIDS!!!!!!

  • @Freestuyl they are not easy to care for... read books about them, how setup, water conditions and humidity should be and see what diseases and illnesses they could get, also get an easy species to start off with like D.leucomelas or E.tricolor. D.tinctorius 'azureus' is fairly harder to keep and less bold...

  • very nice

  • have they laid eggs?

  • beautiful tank!!!!!

  • Beautiful :) great job :)

  • @ItsMeDaveT not nessicarily. firebelly toads would have no problem living in deep water

  • what kind of plant is that light purplish vine you have throughout the viv?
