  • I think Alicia Keys jacked Marlena on this track. I Need You sound similar.

  • You think ? I watched "I need You" ... fortunately I didn't really hear it .

(btw: I don't know Alicia Keys very well)

  • Did she have a disco song out around 1976 titled "It,s better than walking out"?

  • Yes, . It's on an album called: "Just a Matter of Time"

  • love it to death!

  • oooh yesss ! ;-)))

  • @musicallie08 Hi there! Yes, she still singing. I saw her in London last week. She was absolutely amazing!! Almost 70 but so full of energy. Great gig!

  • Keyes could only hope to reach the caliber and soul of this diva, Marlena Shaw she just can't cut it! Marlena is a queen!

  • Me too, still have it among the ancient vinyls in my basement--haven't played it in decades, hope it's not all warped!! "Who Is This Bitch Anyway?" (1974), one of the greatest album titles ever!! Not to mention, a really kick-ass album!!! Love Marlena, she was awesome!!! Hope she's still singing today.

  • Keys is a young woman. Marlena is older and has a more mature voice. Plus Marlena was @middle age when she did this cut. Big difference.

  • Alicia Keys? The legend Marlena Shaw...funny, not really the same league. Saw Marlena at the Jazz Cafe around 2004, she was err quite good.

  • @8888yoshiyuki : She sure is !

  • urban soul diva! she's the best last forever.

  • Alicia know she listened to this song and borrowed heavily especially the rhythm section and chorus. Shade girl!

  • maybe alicia keys was influenced by her. she didn't necessarily copy. i love her!

  • the yeah yeah yeah part is definitely incorporated into alicia's song and possibly some of the guitar work on here into her melody, that part is tricky to tell...plus she didn't give her any credit for it either
