  • does this method work for slipping the last stitch as well? I'm still a new knitter and my pattern says garter stitch and then says to slip the last stitch knitwise. I thought that I could garter with knit stitch, so the whole instruction confused me. Thank you! =]

  • @fzzypurpleturtle I've never heard of just slipping the last stitch. So I did a garter stitch swatch, and slipped the last stitch knitwise on every row. It does not result in the open chain or braided edges like in this video. It perhaps made the edges a bit tighter/neater, but that's it. I'm sure the designer had a reason for slipping the last stitch though. Does the pattern say to do anything special with the first stitch as well? You've got me curious now.

  • hi :) i have a question. if i do a pattern ..for example, i'm on the right side and mostly knitting knit stitches , i would slip first stitch knit wise or purl wise? or the last stitch decides the way of slipping? (i don't know which matters more in pattern, first or last stitch? since ending stitch is always the opposite of the way i slipped first one) p.s.Sorry for my English. ;) Thanks for this video, helped a lot! :)

  • @JunsuiGackt It depends on your taste. It shouldn't matter what stitch pattern you are using. If you want the edge stitches to be twisted (this is the look I prefer), either slip the first stitch purlwise with the yarn in front and knit the last stitch, or slip the first stitch knitwise with the yarn in back and purl the last stitch. If you want the edge stitches to be open, slip the first stitch purlwise with the yarn in front, and knit the last stitch through the back loop.

  • Hi, can you tell me what yarn you were using in this video? Thanks a bunch.

  • @sheezAscififan The pink and white one is Sugar n Cream, the solid pink is Baby's First from Lion Brand and the blue and white one is Peaches n Cream

  • @ilnitwithcatfur my phone keeps saying I'm not leaving a comment so if this is the third one I'm sorry!!!

Drwhoscarf season 16 website the instruction reads "garter stitch, slip last stitch as if to knit." received same instruction from a local woman who made this scarf. Didn't know what it meant exactly so I came to your channel :)
