From tsunamis to tornadoes, from droughts to floods, 2011 was a particularly nasty year for natural disasters.

While some parts of the globe were flooded by water, other parts were in dire need.

Across the Horn of Africa, twelve million people were affected by the severe drought, which still grips the region, while many parts of the world were swept away by heavy downpour.

As the year is coming to an end, the weather struck once more. Tropical Storm Washi hit the Philippines, killing more than 1,000 people.

And with the La Nina conditions still present, 2012 is promising to start just where 2011 left off.

Al Jazeera's meteorologist Steff Gaulter takes a look back.

  • The climate disaster isn't natural caused.

It's man made, and if we don't hurry to stop the destroying of the planet, there will be no good future for the next generations, and "natural disasters" will get even worse!

Let's continue to try to come to a better world... beyond capitalist power, and for the interests of the nature and the people’s lives.

Thanks AlJazeeraEnglish for your journalistic work!

    Happy New Year!

  • @chevyvictor Thank you. Now do enjoy scanning trough those databases that the highly advanced geological scientific community from the "back before the Bible" times have put up on their advanced servers.

  • Matthew 24

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

  • thankyou for lowering yourself down to blowjob standards by using bad language. you can do better than that...

  • @1Guitarslayer hahha best comment so far

  • @chevyvictor Back before the Bible they didn't have fucking internet connections and skype, not to mention scientists with high-tech equipment that is able to register EQs with extreme accuracy across the WHOLE WORLD.

  • @jojo1ukuk HAARP is not a conspiracy it is indeed real. But it can only affect sky weather (Rain, Hurricane, Tornado) but these are very unlikely to happen with the antenna.

  • Happy Shit 2012 Year!!!

  • HARRP is bullshit. any Country has the technolody to figure out where harrp comes from and which Country is behind it. End times. jesus is coming back...
