I've got the 300 dollar ones, and they are so worth it. I let my friend try them out and he went ape shit when he took them off. It's dead silent in a noisy place. It's trippy!

well note that a overheaded base cancelation is exactly what you want. low frequencies are much more disturbing.

I have the Quiet comfort 2 and they work awesome they cancel out a good precentage of unwanted background noise.
