Having reached the third round of the competition for the third consecutive year, Paul Fletcher's side knew that the odds were stacked against them and the superior quality of the Batley side was apparent from the kick off. Leeds Met were however able to put together a number of periods of positive possession and eventually broke down the Batley defence ten minutes into the second half as captain Kris Hodson scored their own try.
Leeds Met will now set their focus on Thursday's BUCS Championship final showdown with student rivals Loughborough at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. The sides have met twice already this season and with honours even in those two fixtures there is all to play for as Leeds Met look to retain their BUCS title for the fifth consecutive year. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
