Sunurreta, I don't know if you dance or if you "have taken dancing classes" and for how long, but one thing is sure: You don't have understood anything at all about arabic dance. You say that Nagwa may be jealous, but I think that you are the one who's jealous. You should be a bit more humble critizing her, because she's been successful for her work, while others couldn't dream of achieving half of her success bec they lack of magic. Dancing is not just a succession of movements but feeling.

@OrientalIndianRose Bravo Rose, I agree 100%.

Najua is the Queen of dance.....She is dancing to the notes of the music…it is not always necessary to be jumping around when you are dancing. I like a dancer that dances to the notes and/or the story the music…. Plus did you see the size of that stage.....

fantastic you have been my idol

I am just getting into Baladi music and dance now, learning to solo with different instruments. You have to tell your own story using this dance and this is exactly what Nagwa is doing here. It's not how many pops, locks and gymnastics you can do, it's theatre, storytelling and also how she interacts with the guys as a woman too. Drum solo is wild and sexy as it should be, and it's improvised, can you see the drummer is following her movements? Kanun solo is also unusual for a dancer. I like.

Very nicely done! Who is the drummer? I still hear those riffs in music recorded today, Issam being one of them.

Obviously you don't undertand the Egyptian mind and belly dance. I find it quite interesting that so many dancers or lovers of belly dance criticize the women who created the dance that we know today as belly dance; Egypt is where it all began, Baby, so live and learn from the best. They interpret the instruments and don't rely on tricks to do this. I doubt Nagwa is jealous of anyone at this point in her life; it's all about "feeling" the music.

Nagwa is an elegant and wonderful interpreter of the instruments. I saw her dance and met her in 1978 when she was at her peak. She was elegant, gracious and spellbinding dancer. She developed her own style and became a goddess of the dance. Each dancer has her own style and Nagwa broke a lot of barriers in her style. In belly dance, many times less is more. I find it quite irritating that so many non-Egyptian dancers think they know more than the Egyptians; we will NEVER outdance them.
i don't know why she's so famous..her dancing is poor...she's just standing the and shakiing..lots v other whay better dancers than her ..no comparison..and she's a judge at HEzzi Ya Nawaem show she keeps giving bad comments on brilliant dances i think she's just jelous

@sunurreta According to Hossam Ramzy she is one of the greatest interpreter of the baladi style ( the style of this vide)...This particular style does not require great skills in tecnique...the dancer has just to do the right things on the music....
also, remembre that this video comes from the seventies...40 years ago...the dance itself was poorer than
