Firefighter training can be intense. It's not for everyone. Enter the worm tube and see if you have what it takes. This is an excerpt from "A Firefighter's Journey", a documentary film about the fire academy experience. It's as close to real firefighting as you can get.

  • which department is this

  • @pizaz1001

It is the Denver Fire Department.

  • Is this part of the training? I'm starting the academy in february so i'm just getting as prepared as possible

  • @jwdtttt

This is mandatory training for The Denver Fire Department and many other fire departments across the country. you should ask the department you will be working for if they do a confined space drill like this.

  • Is this necessary to get through training? I live in Hunterdon County, NJ and would like to know before I start training.

  • @wjz10595

Every fire department trains a little differently. Unless you hear from the firefighters who work for the department you are applying for, you really won't know for sure what type of confined space training they do. You should talk with them before you get too far into it.

Although the worm tube, shown in this video, is considered confined space training, it is more a confidence builder, as well as a tool to help weed out those with serious claustrophobia issues.
