Rather one-sided though. What about psychotic BG casting directors (you know who you are) and anxiety-ridden, frantic, nail-biting rancid extras-wranglers. Union extras are actors making extra cash and There are many extras with PhD's. Can you same the same for casting. Hmmm-nope.

Base camp PA's means no harm 99% of them I'm sure I'd enjoy having a beer with, but when it's 100 degrees outside, 80% of your booked extra's have Shown up.(NEED 20% MORE NOW!). Then those that show up late, show up FOUR (4) hours late saying "sorry, I was running late" ("Late" IS *NOT* 4 hours--that's LAZY). It's ALWAYS the same nonsense they put up with. Extra's doing something they were explicitly told not to do, or being cry babies about going home because "they are hot" (IT'S A JOB!).

If you had to tell 200 people a day to do something, and they move slow as a turtle and when they eventually DO MOVE---they go to the wrong places (or wander around set).

I'd say if you are a "Union Extra" you need a new Agent.. Also (because of the economy) and life shifts. I too know several PHD's doing this, born of necessity than anything.

I hear this stuff when on crew and some people blindly think all plans for the film will be rewritten to bring what you want into the film. By the way 0- sometimes we ned carnival freaks !! :)
