Yesterday, after the LA World Science Fiction Convention had wound down, I happened upon the Scientology after-party, held at the far end of the second-floor meeting room. This room had been converted to an anti-psychiatry museum by a Scientology-founded organization called The Citizens Commission on Human Rights.

I'm sure that psychiatry has made blunders in the past and has lots of room for improvement, but I really don't think I want my information coming from an organisation that thinks all our ills come from Xenu and the souls of displaced aliens!
I think Scientology followers are more dumb then a sack of hammers, I am from Hollywood and know them as a cult first hand. But oddly enough in this particular situation, they are right. These places DO exist, and these things DO happen and very few people know about them. I myself was sent to three of them and lost 5 years of my life starting from the age of 12 to 17. This shit is real and the treatments and medications are real too.
Oh my god Pietershazam you are such a newb. I quote from The American Heritage Dictionary: cult n. 1: "A system or community of religious worship and ritual, especially one focused upon a single deity or spirit." Scientologists do not, as a church, worship any diety or god. Christians do. In conclusion, Christians are cultists, Scientologists are not. GET OWNED!!!!!
Citizens Commission on Human Rights? Do I have this quote right? Hubbard tells clearly how they should be dealt with in his opinion: "...any person from 2.0 down on the tone scale should not have, in any thinking society, any civil rights of any kind, because by abusing those rights they bring into being arduous and strenuous laws which are oppressive to those who need no such restraints"
No, I have not been through the museum thoroughly, but I've been by it and been inside. I'm very knowledgeable of what scientology has to say about psychiatry. I've studied neurology, and I've studied psychiatric criticisms (which were made popular in the 1960s). I can, without a doubt, say that scientology's criticisms of psychiatry do more damage than good for the anti-psychiatry movement (there is a legitimate one).
