@spiiiderman unless you're in a tournament I'm pretty sure the push-out is relatively unknown/frowned upon, but it is legal. If you're playing for money in a bar and don't want to get hurt, however, I wouldn't suggest it.

the best push out is to leave a top shelf shot that you can make and you don't think you opponent can make

im pretty sure that's not true. you may push out whenever you see fit. even if you have an open table, and you want to push out, no one can stop you.
most people just generally prefer to play a safe or try the shot if they can see the whole ball.
