Actually, improvs are possible if you know what you're doing. Band I was in blew a channel & the drummer & I carried the solo for 45 min. while the bassist tried everything he knew to get the sound back. You've hit a point: people are STILL sensitive about doing this song right! I've posted the only 1-guitar cover around, but my favorite improv is by MS7911! Almost all improv, but STILL all Free Bird!
If you're gonna improv this solo, y'gotta BRING IT, & MS7911 DOES!

I don't agree with much of what Mike Huckabee does, but after seeing this, I gotta give the guy credit. Plus he plays the same brand bass I do, so that helps too...
