Gerd Reinsch piloting this approx. 1:3 scale model of the Aichi D3A (Aichi-kyuu-kyuu-shiki-kanjou-bakugeki-ki), allied reporting name "Val", a World War II carrier-borne dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). It was the primary dive bomber and participated in almost all actions, including Pearl Harbor.

    Tpe 99 dive-bomber has strong influence from Heinkel He70, imported from Germany as design sample.
