This is my message for everybody who posted comm for this video. I think, personally that this shittyy way to play and method is just his stile and his way to relax , to exteriorize his soul , his opinions and ideeas. Nobody has the right to decide over him. Respect the people who play this instrument in first place. After , try to do at least what he did , do not panic and try again to feel what he feels when he is plaing. I play also the contrabas , but I respect the others. PEACE !!!

I dont think the sound engineer did any favors for Stanley...and it sounds like it was recorded on a cheap cell phone. Other than that, his intonation is dead on, and he is creating experimental improvisational music-he has been a pioneer in both electric bass guitar and an innovator in upright playing as well. The haters are surprising- maybe you should invest your energy in learning nothing but Gary Carr solos and not worry about Stan?

No, I agree with you. I've been playing classical bass music for 5 years and I hate to hear this shit. Classical is FTW.

even though many people surely want to kill me after what im going to say, but i HAVE to say it:
i cant stand stanley clarke! i tried to get into his style and tried to apreciate it, but the bass just sounds like a cheap plastic intrument, he plays it like its a stupid guitar or something and does the same lame tricks with his slapping and all that crap over and over again!
i bet in every stanley clarke video on this page you will hear the same 2 / 3 ... liks over and over again..LAME!
