Acura TL transmission problem

The transmission for that car uses a combination of 3 solonoids (A,B,C). I believe you have a failing or sticking Solonoid A / B. Follow your battery cable, it splits off and grounds to your transmission. There is 3 Solonoids next to where the cable connects. Also make sure there is no OIL or residue on the outside electrical connections as spilt oil during oil changes tends to land right on them.
Only use HONDA ATF-Z1 fluid or Redline ATF. good luck.

I have a 2000 Acura Tl 3.2 Vtec. The transmission on it kicks and in 2nd slips.Still drive it everyday. When i got it the transmission was kicking really bad.So i got transmission fluid for the same car from dealer and it got better. But still does it.The car has 155,000 Miles on it.Looking for a used transmission now.The dealer wont fix it

I have '99 TL, it does the same thing, on a cold start though. I have to come to a complete stop for the tranny to downshift to first gear. If I roll through, it will not change or it will start off in 2nd gear which will be a crawling take off. It's such a nice car, but that damn transmission scares me. I'm even thinking about doing a 6sp conversion from a CL or Honda Accord. But that's going to be stupid expensive...A shame...

@streetdemon241 putting it in D5 has nothing to do with it...if you put it in D5 the transmission shifts up to 5 Th Gear while driving,it does not start off in 5 Th Gear.

The TL is such a nice car, but christ, the auto tranny... how the Hell could they fucked it up, and why then, (then being from 1997 to 2006 in most cases of any automatic Honda).

I have the same problem. I tried replacing the selenoids but that only provided a small repair. I'm getting my transmission replaced this week and I suggest you do the same

@18wheeler76 My Uncle has 02 TL Type S his tranny just went last week, he doesn't have a warranty so he will probably let it set a while till he can save up enough money to fix it($1,900 quote at Ammco).

I was driving today, and after about 45 minutes I noticed the trans started shifting rough between first and second. Then I got on the freeway and the tcs came off by itself and check engine light came on, I was told solenoid problem? Any advice would really help. Thanks!

This video just proves that no manufacturer is perfect.
Thanks everyone for the comments. Just an update on the issue: dealer replaced tranny for me. Warranty covers it. So if anyone have similar trouble, talk with your dealer. Good luck!
