  • Too bad Jesus was a false gospel works salvationist! He believed that you couldn't just call "Lord, Lord" (faith and confession) and be saved, but you had to do what God required!

  • @clearedtoengage, actually in the Scripture you are referencing those who are workers of iniquity calling Lord, Lord refer to their works, something that a Christian would never do for their salvation comes only from the work of Christ and their works result from their salvation not the other way around!

  • @clearedtoengage, Matthew (7:22-23) Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!

Jesus is talking about those who did works in his name but were preaching a gospel of salvation by works, they call God a liar and say they can earn their salvation. Christians receive the gift of salvation and work out of love!

  • @clearedtoengage, you have this Scripture totally backwards. Those who believe that they had to have works to be saved are the ones being cast out not those who trust in their belief and confession of him to be saved!

John (6:28-29) Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

You cannot derive a works based salvation out of the Gospel of Jesus Christ my friend.

  • Followers of false gospels are not motivated by love for Christ nor do they trust their salvation in belief in him, his death and resurrection by God plain and simple. The gospel of Jesus Christ is too simple for false gospels because it leaves Jesus not people or persons in the position of being the object of affection, desire and whom to serve.

  • @epidome John 6:28-29 quite clearly proves that faith is a work. That makes faith only a works based salvation. You confuse the Scriptural terms here. James 2 proves that works are required for salvation and justification.

  • @epidome Nope... not quite. They were doing good deeds for Christ, and they also believed in Him as the Savior of the world! So what was their problem? They were not doing the WILL of the Father.

They believed that they could do ANY works. But they were not doing the WILL of the Father. I'm not deriving anything. What did Jesus say? "He who believes AND IS BAPTIZED shall be saved." Mark 16:16

  • Romans 10 mentions confessing Jesus' name. Romans 6 mentions baptism. Acts 10 mentions repentance. Galatians 3 also mentions baptism. 1 Peter explicitly says baptism saves. What baptism? The one Jesus preached, the one that was for all who were afar off. The scope of Spirit baptism was limited to two people; the apostles and the men in Acts 10. It does not occur today- if it does, show me the tongues that they spoke.

  • You're right! Now let's look at the gospel! "He who believes and is baptized shall be saved" (Mark 16:16). "Repent or perish" (Luke 13:3). "He who confesses My name before men, him will I confess before the Father" (Matt. 10:32). "“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." (Matt. 7:19) All words of Jesus, who preached the gospel.

  • @epidome That's right - they told me themselves that they "hope to be found worthy of salvation"
