Thanks to Dave Scott of Aim Outboard Recyclers for helping me with the parts for this old girl, if you need hard to find Merc parts, call Dave. Electric start all fixed, spend 5 hrs replacing the starter and wiring it to newer Merc controls.

  • Great work on the repair. Them are some ugly shoes though LOL.

  • @ooldschooll Ya ya ya, I wear Crocs when I'm around water, better than wrecking my Merrell shoes. Thanks, it was a long repair out in the heat today.

  • Nice. I recently acquired a '63 35hp Merc ($25 at auction). No controls came with it but I've since read my '80's Quicksilver controls can be adapted. I downloaded a wiring diagram and have decent skill in the shop, so I'm looking forward to bringing 'er back to life :)

  • Great work on the motor, but the shoes do need to go.

  • Yea that's what I figured. My wife wears crocs alot and I give her grief too. That's really a good idea.
